Space & Materiality: Week 6

Abstraction refers to the conversion of reality into a representation that can be made by using minimum details. Although the aim of abstraction is to show just the idea of the actual object but it should be still depicting it.

The hand gestures made by us, was the actual sketch of what we saw and perceived. Now, we had to convert them into abstract drawings. The challenge was to maintain the look the of the gesture but still give it a minimalistic look.

THIS GRIP IS ABOUT HOLDING A COMB WHICH I HAVE CONVERTED INTO AN ABSTRACT MODEL BY USING MINIMUM ELEMENTS OF THE ORIGINAL SKETCH.

The drawings then had to be converted into 3-D models. These models could be made by using different materials. The objective was to make them sturdy enough to hold the same object as the hand gesture depict.

THIS PROTOTYPE IS MADE BY ME WITH THE HELP OF CLAY, WHICH IS USED FOR PROVIDING STURDINESS TO THE MODEL AND WIRE TO CREATE THE ACTUAL FRAMEWORK OF THE HAND GESTURE.
