Imaging Sem 2: Week 7

17th Feb, 2020: Shruti Maliwar

The layouts for the booklet made by us were developed in this lecture. We had to make some changes in the font styles and sizes according to the size of the booklet. This required many adjustments that had to be made in terms of the placing of different aspects in the layout.

I made some changes in the font used by me and also readjusted the layout of the book accordingly. I also created a content page for my book which included the titles of the various chapters and a layout similar to the rest of the book. I tried to use a font which was suitable for that particular page. I tried to make it as readable and apt as possible. I also made sure that the contents of my book were properly placed for the reader to understand it.

I also added the illustrations made by me corresponding to the various narratives. The interesting part was to find out that detail of the illustration which was most suitable for a particular narrative. Therefore, understanding the purpose of the story and correlating it to the sketches was important in this process. I chose the various illustrations made by me for the different stories and put them all together.

Apart from this, I also made a cover page for my booklet by making use of line drawing and developing it. I also made use of one my sketches as a reference while making it. The title given to my book reads: ESTRACIA, which is a derived from a Greek word meaning ‘Extraordinary’. I tried to use a bold font to highlight the text against the background. I also tried to provide a distinction between the text and the illustration by providing a mild background with reduced opacity. By combining all these elements, I made the cover page for my booklet.

Making these modifications helped us in improving our booklets. It also helped us in understanding an overview of how our final booklet would appear after the printout. This lecture was therefore, all about putting all the elements together and finalizing our layout.
