While analyzing a movie, there are many aspects that have to be kept in mind. The story of the movie being the first one. It is necessary to break it down in a way that all the elements that come together to make the movie, are considered as different aspects. Such as the characters, themes, songs, dialogues, language and so on. These can be the various parameters that can be considered.
The first movie which we watched was called ‘Harishchandrachi Factory‘.
This movie released in 2009 but is set in the 1900s. It is a regional language film in Marathi. The film is based on the efforts made by Dadasaheb Phalke for making India’s first movie ever and how he became the father of Indian Cinema. It shows his dedication and determination towards making the film during a time when movies were completely unknown to India. He puts together all the technicians and actors for the film with great difficulty. The actors had to be very good and expressive as well since it was supposed to be a silent film. After all this, when the movie actually released, it turned out to be a huge success and Dadasaheb Phalke was even felicitated for the same.
I feel the movie reflects India in a way that it is very realistic and authentic. The characters are also shown in a similar way which is seen in their thinking and their their initial responses relating to the movie. A lot of humor is also involved in the movie in various scenes and situations. It is seen that in spite of going through a lot of trouble himself while making the movie, Dadasaheb Phalke didn’t portray it as a journey filled with hardships but on the contrary, he tried to make a very positive movie with fun aspects in it.
I also feel that in many parts of the movie, one might directly compare it to the current ways of making a movie and how it has evolved over the years.
