Integrative Studio Sem 2: Week 13

3rd April, 2020: Akash Das

The inner layouts of any magazine depicts the theme and type of content represented by it. Therefore, to make additions to my existing layouts, I added a few inner layouts to them which helped me in creating a overall iteration for the same.

These layouts were based on the five magazines which I chose initially, namely, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, i-D and Dazed. While making these layouts, I understood the differences which were created in these and how each of them still had a unique way to create their identity. What made each of them stand out was the way they represented the content and put it all together.

These were the layouts made by me:

I mainly focused on the structure and composition of the layouts. I tried modifying them by adding a few elements in the background which lifted the texts and pictures altogether. It was also something new that I tried to introduce in these magazines as usually these are kept either with very little details or nothing at all for the background. So adding these made the layouts distinct.

I also added a layout based on the magazine Visionaire. I tried to keep it completely different from the rest of the editorials by adding a lot of typography and picture structure as compared to the existing ones. I also added more content for the background through lines and shapes.

This is the layout for Visionaire:

The iterations helped me in finalizing the layouts in a way that they were very specific to the content and at the same time had an essence of the original magazine. I also made sure that the function and originality of the magazine was not lost and yet stood out as a new design.
