The small changes made on the cover for the coffee table book would enhance the entire appearance of the book and make it more appealing. After making changes to my cover and the jacket, I realized that a typography which would create a better impact should be used in place of the one I already placed on my cover. So to make these changes, I highlighted the title of my book: The Ancient Grandeur, by using a more more effective typeface which was comparatively thicker to the previous one and more relatable as a title. I also added some texture on the typeface by repeating the ones I already used for my jacket. I made use of the clipping mask tool to work on the same.
These were the changes made by me:

The test prints of my final booklet with the respective changes in the font and a slight change in the colour helped me in understanding the placement of things on it in a much better way. The printout of the flaps on the jacket gave me an insight into the final appearance of the cover and the jacket, both on the outside and on the inside of the book. The printout altogether, also helped me in analyzing the contrast between the two colours used by me.
These were the final prints of the cover:

In this lecture, we also went through an overview of using the pathfinder tool and the proper usage of layers. As I worked simultaneously, I could make the different changes using the pathfinder tool. The interesting part was to explore the different ways in which we could make use of this tool to distort or reform something and put it to multiple uses. I feel this was very helpful for us as we started working towards the contents of the book and also the section pages which could be effectively designed by making use of this tool. On the other hand, it is important to look into the layers and work in a way that all of them are managed properly and at the same time, it becomes easy to identify a particular layer when in need.
This was the exercise done using the pathfinder tool on illustrator:

Overall, this class gave us a better direction towards our process of making the coffee table book. It also developed our understanding of the various ways in which we could make use of the different softwares to create something appealing and informative at the same time.
