Objects as History: Week 7

20th Feb, 2020: Vedant Sharma

Th concepts for our timelines had to be developed in this lecture. We discussed about how the timeline being on based on one aspect, had to be put together and depicted as one. This included a comparative study of the aspect and showed its development throughout time.

The aspect chosen by me was SWORDS. And in this context, I made a list of the various swords from different civilizations and their different uses by the people of those civilizations. What made each of them unique was the design given to them. It not only served a purpose in wars but also in one or the other depicted the culture of the civilization and was also affected by the ways in which it was put to use. The important factor here, was to understand the particular way in which they were made and the reason behind it.

These factors also helped us in creating a comparison between the various swords and their applications and how each one was unique in itself.

This was the list finalized for the timeline:

Our doubts regarding the timeline and its presentation were also cleared in this lecture and we had to make our final layouts of the representation of the same.
