Time: Week 7

18th Feb, 2020: Elizabeth Mathew

The videos created by us had to be finalized in this lecture. The small changes and improvements had to be made wherever possible to create the final video.

In my video, I tries adding a better music which was more suitable to the theme as compared to the previous one. I also tried playing with the sound effects in some places which add more detail and context to the video. The music supported the sequence of the video and also created a pattern which matched the different slides.

Finally, I also added the scrolling credits at the end of this video, which would be the concluding part of it. This gave a better shape to the video and made sure that it started and ended on a proper note. Again here, placing of the elements and timing them was very important as it made the video more effective.

The final video made by me:

The next of the lecture included a discussion on the the following topic:

“Time, a dreadful concept for traditional design either completely eliminated or attempts made to restrain it in the design process.”

I feel time is a concept which cannot be neglected in the design process. It plays a very important in the working of the process and bringing it to a conclusion. Everything in a design process is in one way or the other, dependent on time. Restraining or restricting time will only worsen the process. Time also decides the direction in which development takes place, whether one can proceed in a certain way or not. It can also determine the various ways in which one can adapt ideas from the past or the future to improve or modify something. Apart from this, if there is a deviation from the original path of design, one can always refer to time and advance in this process. Hence, time plays a vital role in the design process and elimination of time cannot be an option if one is expecting growth in this process.
