A review of the tunnel boxes made by us, helped us in understanding the ways in which we could improvise the design and make it even better. A discussion on the process also helped us in identifying our areas of improvement and the stronger features.
The final box made by me:

Design refers to something which is aesthetically pleasing, has utility and at the same time provide solutions to a problem. Assigning these aspects to a design, increases its functionality and helps us in determining the ways in which it can be put to use.
‘Parts of a whole’ is a part of design which refers to the breaking down of aspects into smaller elements for a better understanding. It helps in developing our knowledge about a particular stream and its working.
Every stream works in its own specific way. Identifying these ways and how it can be further divided, comes under this process. What is important here is to decode the elements and understanding their placement under the stream. This is equally important for any course, maybe it be product, fashion, communication, interior or business management. All of them ultimately come down to elements which build up to create this course.
A vivid discussion in class about the same, gave a better insight into the different streams. Not just the good points but also the drawbacks and various possibilities. And this discussion helped us in developing a mind map for our desired courses, by breaking them down further.
The mind map made by me was based on ‘Fashion Communication & Styling’. This is the course I wish to take up and this process would create a better understanding of the same. I broke it down into five categories, namely: Visual Communication, Fashion Journalism, Photography, Space design and Digital Design . And these were further divided into elements which came under them.

Applying this process gave us an overview our streams and how there were different elements which combined to create it. It also helped us to link each of them and learn how they worked individually.
