Objects as History: Week 1

History mainly refers to the study of events that occurred in the past in order to learn its origin and implement it in the present times. History can also be used to rectify the mistakes of the past and not to commit them in the future.

Stone age refers to the period of time when the people would make use of tools made out of stone and this period lasted for a very long time.

The Neolithic Revolution started around 10,000 BC in the Fertile Crescent in the Middle East. It refers to the first agricultural revolution. The Fertile Crescent was the place where people started to take up farming. People started to form settlements by gathering communities. The people in this period were ritualistic and did not have an idea of evolution. The people here, also believed in Excarnation, which refers to the process of removing the skin before burial.

The First settlement during this period was Tel Qaramel. It consists of different towers which are built around it. It also has around twenty skeleton remains.

These are considered to be settlements created by people who have been living there. On the other hand, civilization is formed by people who share a number of common elements.

Çatalhöyük was also one of the large Neolithic Settlements. It existed around 7000 BC. The people in this settlement were very religious. They also worshiped the female as they considered them to be divine.

Jericho was the first town in the world. It is located Jordan. This place was also known for its tall walls which it was surrounded by. The only older towers than this place were found at Tel Qaramel.

The Deities in Mesopotamia were considered to have extraordinary powers. The names of these Deities were as follows: An: God of Heaven, Enki: God of Wisdom, Ki: God of Earth, Enil: God of Rains, Inanna: God of Beauty, Utu: God of Sun, Ur: God of Moon.

These were different settlements and beliefs that existed during these periods of time.
