Imaging Sem 2: Week 15

20th April, 2020: Jai Ranjit/ Shruti Maliwar

This session was all about the final presentation of the book. Showing it to someone who is completely new to the process, gave me an idea of how people would perceive the book and how it finally appeared to be like. It is a great way to understand if the idea is clear and appreciated by the viewer and how they would comprehend the message conveyed.

A mock-up is very helpful when it comes to understanding the final look of our coffee table books. The mock-ups helped me to visualize how the physical product would appear. It also created a new perspective of viewing the book as we were so used to seeing it on the screen. Apart from this, it also helped me in developing my software skills and putting them to use while creating these mock-ups corresponding to the layout. ]

These were the final digital mock-ups:

A PDF is always helpful when it comes to digitally analyzing the book. As for a mock-up is helpful for the physical representation, PDFs are helpful in viewing each page precisely as it would be seen by the viewer. Aspects such as the illustrations, font styles, colours and so on, appear distinctly on the PDF making it easy to have a complete look of the book.

From the PDFs, I also developed an understanding of how easy it would be to share it across to people and have their opinion on the same. In all, I think PDFs are a vital part of the process as they develop a deeper understanding now just from the creator’s point of view but also from the viewer’s point.

This is the final PDF of my Coffee Table Book:

The review was very helpful as it gave me a different perspective to look at the book. There were many aspects which highlighted the book and made it look good. The use of different softwares to create illustrations and the final book was also liked by the viewer.
