Integrative Studio: Week 12

4th Nov, 2019: Malvika Ma’am

Maps show us the correct placement or position of an area. They help us to navigate through a place or to reach a certain place. Maps organize the information about a particular place in a way that one understands the different aspects present in that space.

Maps not only refer to the ones giving specific directions, but they can also refer to a distinct aspect or quality of a place. They may necessarily not be linear but can also be as abstract or as informative as possible.

Different books read in class, such as “Map is Art” and “Information is Beautiful”, helped us in understanding these maps in detail. They provided us with different ways of making a map.  Although these maps were abstract pieces, one could still make out what they were representing.

Our task was to come up with two such maps of the area we visited. These maps had to represent one aspect in two different ways. The aspect chosen by me included Planning.

Planning, being a wide aspect, had to be narrowed down to more specifications and had to be made more define.
