Sustainable Systems: Week 11

19th March, 2020: Sahiba Madan

A discussion about the previous classes helped us in getting an overview of all the topics. This also increased our understanding of concepts such as sustainability, goals of sustainable development, cradle to cradle method and the four ‘R’s.

We also spoke about the Social Impact Project. It revolves around spreading social awareness through an educational module. This project was supposed to be carried out in groups. For this, we were assigned topics and based on the research of this topic, we were supposed to create a design which could be implemented with actual people.

The topic assigned to our group was Energy Consumption which basically refers to the amount of energy consumed. We discussed amongst ourselves and came up with the intention of creating a ‘game’ for children belonging to the age group of 13 to 15.

We decided to come up with a game which would be interactive in nature and could involve a greater number of people at a time. We also made sure that the game would be fun and they would enjoy playing it and at the same time learn about the topic.

Here, it was very important for us to do as much research as possible so it would help us in spreading more awareness. It was also necessary to convey the intention of the project and make it an interesting module for people. This also helped us in studying the topic in a deeper way.
